What is a split charger?

A split charger divides the charge produced by your solar panels between two destinations. They’re essential for charging both the main vehicle battery and the leisure battery of a vehicle at the same time.

You’ll need a split charger if you’re converting a van or adding a solar power system to a conversion and want to use a leisure battery.

The split charger is able to measure the voltage and level of charge of the connected batteries to safely power them when needed, without overcharging.

A split charger is great for keeping your leisure battery charged and ready to provide usable power to your vehicle.

It can also keep your vehicle’s starter battery topped up, so you’ll always be able to start your engine – particularly useful if your alarm system tends to drain battery power when not in use.
